My baby girl is officially One year old!! It feels like yesterday we were in the hospital waiting to take her home. Over the past year, my daughter’s personality has emerged and she is such a wild child. She is constantly in motion. It is very rare that she allows me to sit with her and read her a book. When I was thinking about birthday party ideas it seemed obvious that it had to be something WILD.
Norah is WILD and she is turning ONE and so the theme was born: WILD ONE!

I was originally going to make Norah’s Birthday invitations but after browsing online I found the perfect invites!
On Zazzle’s website, they give you the option to choose the size of the invitations. To save money I went with the 3.5″ x 5″ and for the paper type, I picked the Semi-Gloss. They came out beautifully. I was very happy with my purchase. Zazzle constantly offers discounts between 15% & 30% off and if you sign up for Zazzle Black at $9.95 a year you will receive unlimited Free Standard shipping on all qualifying orders and access to exclusive sales & discounts! I signed up for Zazzle Black last year when I bought my Christmas cards. Purchasing Zazzle Black has already paid for itself.
The invites were $1.85 each and I bought 25. I used a 15% off code making my total $39.25.

DIY Time Capsule Cards:
To go along with the invitations I made Time Capsule Cards. I used Card Stock Paper and created the design using Canva.com. They came out amazing and matched the invitations perfectly! I found the Card Stock Paper at Walmart for $5.48.
DIY Personalized Birthday Banner:
I made Norah a Happy Birthday Banner. I used Canva.com to make the design and printed it out on Cardstock paper. After they printed I cut them out and hole punched the top corners. I bought ribbon for $1.50 to string the letters together. It only cost me $1.50 because I had already bought the card stock paper for the Time Capsule cards.
DIY Highchair Banner:
I made a High Chair Banner the same way I made the Birthday Banner. This Banner cost me $0 because I already had everything needed to make it!
My daughter LOVES music. She always dances when the music comes on so I created a special playlist for her Wild One Birthday Party on Youtube. I signed up for the Free Trial of Youtube Red so that the music would play during the party without interruptions. The playlist includes songs that go perfectly with the WILD theme. Check out the playlist below:
The Birthday Girl
I purchased Norah’s Onesie from Zazzle.com. I was able to personalize it with her name. The price of this onesie is $21.15 but I used a 15% off code which brought the total to $17.98. This is a great onesie and she is able to wear it again and again.
Girls Wild One Teepee 1st Birthday Shirt
Although the onesie had a built-in skirt I had a pink skirt from valentines day that still fit her. It looked perfect with the outfit so I decided to have her wear it.
I decided to purchase shirts on Amazon for me and my husband. I almost didn’t purchase them so that I could save money but I am so glad I went through with the purchase. They look amazing and we wear our shirts ALL the time! The shirts were $17.99 each, making the total $35.98.
I had so much fun making these Wild One Headbands! I bought a cheap bag of white feathers at Walmart ($3.95) & found the perfect bands at the Dollar Store. The bands were 3 for $1! A couple months ago I purchased a cheap grab bag from Michaels and it had so many awesome things in it. One of the items in the grab bag was a container of gold studs. For Norah’s headband, I spray painted the tips of the feathers gold (I already had gold spray paint in my craft cabinet). Then with my hot glue gun, I glued the feathers & the stud to the band. I made 6 headbands in total for some other kids who were attending the party. For the other bands, I followed all the previous steps except I did not spray paint the tips of the feathers. Total spent to make 6 headbands $5.95.
My Cousin-in-law Amanda made the cake and smash cake for Norah. Amanda is so talented! Both the cake and smash cake came out beautiful and tasted AMAZING!!

My sister-in-law Brittany made Norah a beautiful Dream Catcher for her Baptism. I used the dream catcher as inspiration for Norah’s Birthday Party. Brittany let me borrow other dream catchers she has made to use as party decorations.
I also purchased mini Dream Catchers from Amazon that I used to decorate! I now have all 6 I bought hanging up in Norah’s room. They match perfectly with the Dream Catcher Brittany made. The total of the Dreamcatchers was $25.98.
Food & Drinks:
We asked all our family and friends to bring a dish and BYOB. This saved us a lot of money and it was fun for our guests because they were able to show off their favorite dishes and drinks. We made sure to have bottled water ($3.30) & Lemonade Mix ($1.98). I also made a Sausage, Peppers & Onion dish using my two crockpots ($50). The total money we spent on food and drinks was $55.28.
We are very lucky to have family and friends who allowed us to borrow the Tent, Tables & Chairs.
The Total Guest count was 27 people.
The Total Amount Spent = $187.40 – Keep in mind that half of that cost was for stuff we can use again and again like clothing and decor. Normally after a party like this, we end up having a ton of leftovers keeping the cost of our groceries for the upcoming week lower.
All in all Norah’s First Birthday Party was a huge success!!
